My First Mac Lipstick: Get It Before Its Gone!

Nude lips: you love 'em or you hate 'em. I love them so it's not really a surprise that my first Mac lipstick was going to be a nude. This is also my first high end lipstick as well :) A few days ago I decided to make my first trip to a Mac counter and I was hoping they had the limited edition Viva Glam Gaga II lipstick still in stock. When I first saw swatches of the lipstick, I wasn't a fan because it looked too brown. But after seeing some other reviews and pictures, I decided to try my luck.

The packaging is really chic and classy. The Viva Glam lipsticks have the red detailing and some of them have signatures like the Gaga and Cyndi ones. I like the size and shape of the tube a lot as well. The lipsticks have a light fragrance to them that I don't really notice it.

The color is a brown tone nude and it has an amplified formula. Honestly, the color doesn't look so exciting in the tube but the formula totally makes this worth the $14.50 price tag! The price is high if you compare it to drugstore lipsticks. But $14.50 is actually quite reasonable when most other high end brands charge at least $20 for a tube.
I had to do a comparison between Gaga II and Revlon's Soft Nude because they are the only nude lipsticks I own (thus far). Revlon's Soft Nude has a bit more pink in it while Gaga II comes off as a more true nude. The great thing about Gaga II is that you can build up the color to the intensity you desire. The pigment is amazing so I recommend slowly dabbing the product on your lips instead of swiping it on. Many people recommend using a lip liner with this shade but I don't own any so I can't attest to how well that works.

Here I dabbed on Gaga II all over my moisturized lips and spread the color out evenly using a clean finger. I topped it off with a clear gloss. I like letting my natural lip color peek through just a bit so I don't have zombie lips. I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm looking forward to buying more Mac lipsticks in the future!

Have you guys tried Viva Glam II? What nude lipsticks would you recommend to me?

  2. Freddie: Ooh, I googled Cherish and it looks really pretty :) I put it on my to-buy list haha! Thanks!

Serinny: Doesn't matter lol. I only have a few things and I'm slowly building m y collection. I don't think it really matters what brands you have in your collection anyway.

    Ken: er... ok?

Roisin: Yup, I already have Hue on my wishlist but thanks for suggesting :D

  3. This shade looks great on you. I'm not a big fan of nudes, even if I own a few, lol. I would recommend Revlon colorburst Blush. It's a more wearable nude IMO.
