Protect and Prevent: Sephora's Sun Safety Kit

I managed to wander into a Sephora a few days ago and was not planning to purchase anything but I spotted their Sun Safety Kit which they release every spring. For only $25 you receive about ten sample sized products and a few extras. The value is quite good and my sunscreen expired (I ordered a sunscreen a few days ago but have not received it yet so I'll do a post on it when I get my hands on it!) so I thought trying out a few different options wouldn't hurt.

The tote bag is quite cute and great for beach trips. The magenta color is perfect if you have poor vision like me and have trouble finding your spot on a crowded beach. Although the bag does not add much value to the kit, it's a nice touch and better than nothing.

Sephora does a good job at picking out a variety of products with SPF from numerous brands. The sizes are not bad either and I can see most samples lasting me about two weeks each with consistent use. The size is perfect for traveling and I will be saving some for when I go on vacation for two weeks in July. The little green tube is a full size Ole Henriksen lip balm which retails for $15. Compared to the retail price of the full size Murad moisturizer, the sample in the kit would cost $24.70. If compared with the retail price of the products, this kit is definitely a bargain.

All in all, I am very pleased so far about the value and range of the kit. I am currently testing out the products a few at a time and will report back on each of them with separate pictures in the future. I'm already looking forward to next year's kit and you should too!

  2. Unfortunately it's out of stock on the Sephora website already :/ I picked this up in a busy Manhattan Sephora and there were multiple kits still available so it depends on your area I suppose. Check your local Sephora! :D

  4. This is a great idea! It's cute enough and awesome enough to get people to use sunscreen. The number of my friends who go without it and then come back from the beach complaining about how they've burnt is astounding! I would've liked to get multiples to give all my friends for sun safety :).

  5. Pang: I think there's bound to be at least one good product for everyone in the kit so it's great if you're like me and hasn't tried any of the products in the kit.

onedessertplease: I always nag my boyfriend about using sunscreen because his summer job requires him to be outdoors for eight hours a day. I'm not sure if my friends know the importance of sunscreen but I seem to be the only one who hides under the umbrella when we go to the beach XD
