Beauty Resolutions for 2013

Happy 2013 everyone! I was at a loss of what my first post of the new year should be but then I came across Getting Cheeky's Beauty Resolutions of 2013 post and thought it would be perfect to put forth my own version!

Rotate through my collection and use different products more often.
I've accumulated an almost embarrassing amount of beauty products and honestly, it stresses me out when I look through everything and realize I will not finish most of it within the near future. It causes me anxiety when I cannot pick a blush to wear for the day simply because I have too many options. To simplify my getting ready routine and to avoid the anxiety that comes with having to choose different products everyday, I fall into a beauty rut. I hope to dust off some forgotten products and get more use out of quality makeup that I bought and intend to get my money's worth from.

Explore new brands and try new products.
This kind of goes at odds with the first point and while most people want to downsize their stash, I want to broaden my horizons. This does not mean buying every new collection that comes out from every brand but I would like to try some products from brands I don't usually purchase from. I have been lusting over some products from Asian brands and indie companies for ages but have never taken the plunge for a variety of reasons. While I guess I do save some money by holding myself back, I end up spending the money on other products anyway. Instead of always following the beauty blogging pack and jumping onto already rolling bandwagons, I hope to find some great products on my own once in awhile. I think my readers will appreciate some trial and error on my part as well.

Break some beauty rules.
By rules I mean my personal, self-made rules that usually lead me to wearing the same neutral-brown eyeshadow look for months at a time. I want to rock a green smokey eye for a daytime look or a bright red lip to run some errands. By the end of the year I hope to have an entirely different hairstyle which might involve some color. I am 20 years old but I constantly feel like I am about to turn 65 because I am so... safe. I stick to what I know but it leads to boredom and dissatisfaction. This is the perfect year to experiment with beauty and I hope to increase my inner self confidence as well.

What are some of your beauty resolutions for the new year? Do you make resolutions every year? What are your tips on successfully following through with your resolutions?

  1. Great post! To be honest, I tend to do things spontaneously but that's maybe the reason why I don't make resolutions.I think I need to stay focus on my goals this year. That would be a great start :)Xx

    1. Spontaneity can be a great thing! I lack spontaneity and tend to prefer routines and very precise plans but I want to branch out of my comfort zone a little more. I guess we're trying to find a happy middle right now :)

  3. I love your beauty solutions! All of these seem to describe beauty goals I should keep for the year as well, especially rotating products and breaking beauty rules! I made life resolutions a couple of years ago but found it hard to keep myself on track. Instead I just try my best to set goals every now and again and commit myself that way.

    1. True, it's never a bad time to set goals and the pressure of following things for a whole year can be hard. Hope you can accomplish your beauty and personal goals!

    1. Thanks! I wanted to make resolutions that were somewhat conceivable since it would be pretty pointless to make very difficult ones XD It's all a process ^^
