My Very First Covergirl Product... Am I Impressed?

Starting a few months back, I've been going into my local Rite Aid and CVS weekly, browsing the makeup aisles for cult favorites and new collections. One of the most popular drugstore products that every blogger and youtuber seems to love is Covergirl's Shimmering Sands trio eyeshadow. I had a few Extra Bucks from CVS and I'm a die hard fan of neutral colored eyeshadows I figured what the heck and I succumbed to the hype. After buying it, I realized this is first makeup product I've gotten from Covergirl and it's probably due to their boring, cheap looking packaging and lack of limited edition collection.

So for $5.80 at CVS you get three shimmery shadows, a light pink champagne, a light taupe brown, and a darker taupe brown. I love pink champagne colors and my taupes so I expected myself to enjoy this trio a lot. So how did it hold up to my expectations?

It swatched decently on my finger as shown above and the shades were soft without being overly powdery. I'm not wow-ed by this trio though and swiped onto my arm, the pigmentation wasn't crazy. The pink champagne shade which I was extremely excited about wasn't impressive. It did not apply smoothly from my fingers but I think patting with an eyeshadow brush and blending well will take care of that issue. This is a good drugstore buy for beginners and those who love neutrals but it's safe to say i have many colors similar to these which pack more pigmentation. I think the reason why so many people rave about these eyeshadows is because they are packed together to create a simple, flawless eye. It's super easy to use and pretty much foolproof. I have a feeling this trio will be forgotten very easily in my sea of eyeshadows though :(

Overall, I'm glad I picked it up just to see what the hype was about and I do think it'd look great over a champagne colored base but it is by no means my favorite eyeshadow from the drugstore.
