Recent Favorites // June 2012

As of late my favorite makeup products have been ones that have helped me streamline my beauty routine. I haven't been experimenting with colorful eyeshadows nor doing anything too fancy. Give me a lightweight, light coverage skin tint, a cheek enhancing blush, a bold lip, and groomed eyebrows and I'm out the door! Here are the products I've been reaching for the most often to get out of the house in a pretty pinch.

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation - None of my tinted moisturizers or foundations match my skintone at the moment so this is great for transitioning my skin from it's winter state to my summer tan. This is not really a foundation at all but rather a very sheer coverage tint that evens out my skin just a bit and leaves a dewy, healthy finish.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush - I used to use my fingers to apply the No Foundation Foundation but I've been loving this brush for doing the job lately. Can you tell I've been using this brush a lot by the dirty, unwashed bristles? No worries, I just cleaned my brush after taking the photo! This brush feels very soft on the skin and buffs liquid foundations and makeup effortlessly.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush - Originally I planned on using this for foundation but it didn't apply the way I wanted it to so instead this has become my favorite blush brush of the moment. The size and stiffness of the bristles are perfect for placing blush on the apples of my cheeks.

NYX Stick Cream Blush - If you read my review of this before, you know I'm a big fan of these blushes! Magnolia is my favorite of the two colors I purchased because it livens up my complexion so easily. Seriously, you need this NOW.

NYX Rouge Cream Blush - I retract what I previously said about the poor lasting power of these blushes. I gave Rose Petal another chance and I was able to see the blush after eight hours of wear. These are as amazing as the stick blushes by NYX. For just a few dollars, I can't see why one would want to skip this.

The Face Shop Automatic Eyeliner in Black Brown - This was the second eyeliner I ever bought in my life and I hated it as an eyeliner. The dry formula was waxy and it dragged unevenly across my lashline. Fast forward two years and I had this epiphany to try it as an eyebrow pencil. Well what do you know, I love it as an eyebrow pencil! The color is just right for my brows (maybe a smidgen too dark but I can deal) and the lasting power is nice. I like that the shine from the skin under my brows isn't able to peak through this product because that's what happens when I use eyeshadow as brow powder.

Lancome Color Design Lipstick in All Done Up - I am embracing bright lips and Lancome's color design formula is everything I look for in a lipstick: long lasting, creamy, non-drying. This is simply beautiful and the shade possibilities when mixed with other lip products is amazing.

Maybelline Shine Sensational Lipstick in Coral Lustre - Coral lips are beautiful, especially in warm weather, so this sheer but buildable lipstick is perfect for a glossy look. The shimmers in the formula are not gritty whatsoever and I can wear this without any gloss for a moisturized lip look.

Lancome Visionnaire (not pictured) - I received a sample of this serum in a recent gift with purchase and have been applying a small amount post toner and pre moisturizer at night. I have no idea what this actually does for my skin but my skin feels plumper and just nicer after using this. Unfortunately there are noticeable light reflecting pink and yellow (think Nars' Albatross) particles in the formula. The shimmers are very minute and undetectable on the face but I can definitely see them on my finger. Nonetheless, I am surprised I like it but I probably won't purchase this since it costs a whopping $84 for one ounce.

  1. I loveeee my Real Techniques brushes too. The stippling brush is perfect for my cream blush :)

And I really need to get on these NYX products. I feel like every time I come to your blog, you're always talking about one NYX product or another, haha. I think it's a sign. My make-up routine has been really simple lately as well. Especially with the gross, humid, hot weather we've been having (though today was really cool in comparison), less is more!

    1. I prefer my E.L.F Studio Blush Brush for cream blush :)

It's definitely a sign! I don't mean to talk about a certain product too much but it's true, I like them a lot :D I hate humidity and I wish we had more breezes with our sunshine!

  2. The Real Techniques brushes are my new favorites for affordable brushes! I also intended on using the Stippling brush for foundation but it doesn't work so good for that. The new Flawless Face brush is really good for foundation though, even BETTER than the Buffer brush, I swear!

    1. Thanks for recommending that to me! I was eyeing that one too but I didn't want to go overboard with my haul haha. I'll definitely check it out in the future though!

  3. I love that buffing brush by Real Technique its the best for liquid makeup!
    Lovely post
