Zoya PixieDust in Beatrix: Queen's Day Polish
Where was this polish in April when I was in Amsterdam celebrating Queen's Day?! This Zoya PixieDust polish from the Summer 2013 collection is practically a homage to Queen Beatrix who stepped down this year to let her son be king. Every year on Queen's Day (now it will be King's Day) the Netherlands is covered in orange and it would have been so perfect if I had this sparkly number with me when I was in Amsterdam.
Zoya's PixieDust polishes retail for $9 and feature a matte base color with tons of shiny, reflective glitter pieces suspended in the formula. The polish is meant to be worn sans base and top coat so I always reach for these when I'm pressed for time. Out of all the PixieDust polishes that Zoya sent to me for consideration, Beatrix reigns in the top three for sure. This polish is very pigmented and two coats yields opaque coverage. The vibrant mandarin orange is suitable for all skintones and is perfect for summer time.
Perhaps the Dutch inspiration makes me biased because when I wear Beatrix I think of all the fond memories of my experience living in the Netherlands. But the formula and incredible sparkle factor make my love for this polish totally justified and I highly recommend this polish. I wish I had tried this polish earlier when summer was still around but hey, this could potentially be a nice accent nail to an all red mani for the holidays as well!
