Travel Makeup Bag: Two Weeks in Korea
By the time you are reading this, I'll already be in South Korea. Having bounced around the world quite a bit in 2013, I'm getting pretty good at packing and downsizing instead of lugging around a lot of nice-to-haves that don't get used on trips. Instead of using my trusty Muji nylon bags that I brought for my Europe and Asia escapades, I dumped all my makeup into a roomy Lancome gift-with-purchase makeup sack this time.
For the base I'm packing mini essentials for an evened out complexion. I put a bit of Laura Mercier's Foundation Primer in a sample jar as well as the Holika Holika Peach Girl BB Cream in another sample pot. A little goes a long way with each so I didn't want to bring both tubes which take up a lot of room. I'm also bringing two mini Liole BB Creams in the Water Drop and Beyond the Solution formulas. I'll probably use these samples first before the Holika Holika. For undereyes and spots, I'm bringing along the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer which has a peachy tone and beige tone in a small compact. The KIKO Soft Focus Concealer is one I've been using a lot recently and it's great for all over the face if I don't feel like wearing BB Cream. To set everything, I have my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which I'm desperately trying to use up. That seems like a long laundry list of products just for the face but it really is only a handful of products considering the size of everything.
The Too Faced Leopard Love Kit contains a bronzer, blush and highlight so it's everything I need for my cheeks in one thin, lightweight palette. The colors are quite light so I never reach for this in the summer when I'm tanned so I'll finally get to use this a bit. For days I don't want to be bothered using a brush, I can effortlessly apply Becca's Beach Tint in Fig and highlight with Benefit's Watt's Up.
I'm bringing three teeny tiny samples of eye primers for some strange reason, Urban Decay's Primer Potion, Benefit's Stay Don't Stray and Korres' Antiageing Eye Primer. I have this strange fear of running out of eye primer when the tubes are so darn tiny. Even if I do run out of eye primer, I'll be okay since I'm packing the KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 05, one of my favorite cream shadows in an easy to use twist up stick. As far as powder eyeshadow, at first I was only going to bring Maybelline's Chai Latte Quad, one of my favorite essential eyeshadow palettes of all time. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to throw in the Yves Rocher Duo in Prune and Powdery Taupe in case I wanted a smokier, cool toned eyeshadow look for night time. I'm only bringing one eyeliner in the form of Buxom's Insider Eyeliner in Chocolate Citrine. The retractable dark brown liner is creamy and the added bonus is I don't have to sharpen anything. For mascara I'm taking Maybelline's The Colossal Volume Express Waterproof and Lancome's Definicils. All I need for my brows is Liole's Auto Eyebrow in #2 because the dark brown shade is perfect for my coloring and the spoolie on the other end of the pencil is great.
I'm keeping things to a minimum and I wanted to bring things that could be multitasking. I have no regular lipbalms at the moment that have SPF so the Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 is a great balm that gives a hint of color and sun protection. TheBalm's Stainiac is one of my favorite lip stains and can double up as a cheek tint. The Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Perky is also suitable as a cheek stain. I don't know if I'll be wearing much gloss but taking the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Peony just in case.
