February and March 2014 Empties

Ah, another round of empties from the last two months. It seems that there are less products in this post than usual but I suppose it's because I have a few things on their last legs and they'll be in my April and May empties. Let's get right into it!

I finished a sample of Origins' Mega-Bright Skin Illuminating Cleanser but wasn't impressed. The scent was not particularly enticing and there wasn't anything special about the product. I much prefer the Origins Checks and Balances Cleanser. I used up a sample of the Ahava Essential Dry Moisturizer which is meant for the face but I used it as a body and hand lotion before bed. There's nothing noteworthy about it and I've never been particularly attracted to the brand so I'm glad this product is in the recycle bin. I went through a mini tub of Lush's Ro's Argan Body Conditioner which I've had the full size one of before. The scent is nice but the product isn't hydrating enough for my super dry skin. I received a box of DHC Make Off Sheet Makeup Remover Wipes a few Christmases ago and just got around to finishing them. I usually dislike makeup remover wipes and these were particularly bad. They were dry and the cotton sheets were quite small so you needed at least two wipes to remove face makeup. I used up most of them to wipe off swatches.

The Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Gel Mask* lasted me ages and it's one of my favorite moisturizing masks. It soothes and heals my skin overnight which is great especially after a bout of bad breakouts. I would definitely consider purchasing it again. The Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Vita Complex was something I bought only because it was buy one get one (my Mom has another version in the pink packaging). The artificial orange scent was offputting and it did nothing for my skin. I used it like a toner but really did not find it had an effect on my skin. The Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser came with the "It Kit" gift set they released last year. This exfoliator had small scratchy beads that felt a bit harsh and the cleanser didn't feel like a high end product. I assume this is like the overpriced version of St. Ive's Apricot Scrub.

Since I dyed my hair, I wanted to try a more moisturizing shampoo to combat dryness and breakage. I chose Lush's Blousey Shampoo because it's the thickest shampoo they offer featuring moisturizing ingredients such as bananas. Unfortunately the scent is a bit strange and the shampoo wasn't moisturizing enough for my locks. It's also quite pricey and not worth a repurchase. Another can of Klorane Dry Shampoo beats the dust as I can go through this fairly quickly if I'm not being mindful about how much I use. I really enjoy this dry shampoo but am trying to transition into powder dry shampoos since aerosol cans are not environmentally friendly. I finished samples of the Aveda Invati Shampoo and Conditioner which I didn't quite enjoy due to the strange scent. The Ojon Color Sustain Pro Conditioning Treatment actually seemed to make my dyed hair more brown and vibrant but the scent was horrible and lingered for two days after I used it. I couldn't stand the chemical smell of my hair after using it so I would definitely not try it again.

I finally used up a one ounce sample of the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. I liked that it wasn't silicone based and it glided onto the skin nicely but it didn't have a major effect on prolonging my makeup or making it appear smoother. The Covergirl Lashblast Waterproof Mascara was a disappointment because it was very difficult to remove, more so than my favorite Maybelline waterproof mascaras. It didn't curl or lengthen my lashes as much as my beloved Maybelline ones either. The Rimmel Accelerator Endless Lash Mascara was an Influenster free product but a bust because it didn't do much for my lashes. I never reach for this sample of the Dior Lipstick in 738 so I'm passing it along to my mom. Lastly is the tiny tube of Origins Pink Your Cheeks Tint in Raspberry seems to have gone bad because it now squirts out a clear gel.... Into the bin it goes....

That's it for my empties! Lots of disappointments and meh products but a couple of standout products that I really enjoyed while they lasted. What have you used up recently? Any repurchases coming up?
