Addicted to Blush Tag

When Monika tagged me to do this post, I was hesitant to actually go through my blush stash and pick favorites. I liken it to having to choose your favorite child... if I had any children. OK, maybe it's not that serious but it's quite hard to narrow down your favorites when you're a makeup hoarder like I am. Let's get on with the first question, shall we?

What colour blush suits you the most?
The first picture says it all: I love peachy pink blushes. Matte, shimmer, cream, powder; I love them all.
Pressed/Cream/Loose Blush?
My collection is mostly comprised of pressed powder blushes so I guess that's my preference. I really like cream blushes too but I usually spend less time blending powder blushes so I reach for them more often.

Favorite shimmery blush?
I'm a sucker for shimmery blushes but not ones with glitter. In the end I had to pick Nars Deep Throat because it has a gorgeous pinky peach base with golden shimmer that lifts the face but doesn't highlight pores or imperfections. My cheeks always look healthy when I wear this.

Favorite matte blush?
As for matte blush, I also have to hand it to Nars because their matte formulation is truly matte without being flat. Nars Gina wins my pick for favorite matte because the orange shade is very complementary to my warm skintone and it looks natural without being sallow.

Favorite cream blush?
My favorite everyday cream blush is Stila's Convertible Color in Peony. It's the best everyday shade for when I have no idea what to put on my cheeks. The formula is slightly dense so you won't pick up too much product by accident and the color lasts the full day on me. The NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Rose Petal is my budget pick because it is also a very flattering color for many skintones and the cream is highly pigmented. You only need the teensiest amount so you have to be careful when applying!

Favorite drugstore blush?
To be honest, I don't have a whole lot of blushes from the drugstore. I recently purged a bunch of makeup and a few drugstore options got tossed or given away as well because I just haven't found many that I've truly enjoyed using. I can vouch for the Wet n' Wild Color Icon Blushes in Berry Shimmer and Mellow Wine. Both of these are super pigmented and smooth to the touch. They're a bit powdery but I can deal with that for $3. I bought these when they were 40% off or BOGO so it's amazing the quality you can get for under $2! I'm also a fan of the Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker Blush in Natural because it's a gorgeous vibrant peachy pink that I don't come across often.

Favorite high-end blush?
I couldn't really pick a favorite high-end blush because I really like the ones I have so I just chose Nars as a brand since I have several of their blushes. They go overboard with the glitter at times (Orgasm and Oasis) but in general I think they are famous for their blushes for a reason. A little product goes a long way so these are worth the money if you find a shade you really love.

Favorite bright blush?
I kind of cheated here and picked three because they're all totally different shades. Mac Pink Swoon is the perfect matte Barbie pink but it's a sheertone formulation so it doesn't actually go on the cheeks that bright. Tarte's Cheek Stain in Flush is a deep berry but it's a sheer gel texture so it adds a bright pop without looking overdone. Illamasqua's Cream Blush in Rude is a fantastic orange that blends out beautifully on the cheeks. I've talked about it many times but I honestly use it only in the summer. I need to make it a point to reach for this more often.

Biggest blush disappointment/regret?
I had to think about this question for awhile because nothing came to mind easily. But when my eyes fell on the Bourjois Cream Blush in Nude Velvet, I remembered how frustrated I was with this product. This was hyped up by many of the British bloggers and Youtubers and I just don't see why they loved it so much. It's not very pigmented, not easily blendable and you get very little product.

Best blush packaging?
Both of my picks for best blush packaging happen to be from the drugstore but they're not available in the U.S. First is the Majolica Majorca Creme de Cheek Blush which is a liquid blush housed in a glass jar with the cutest princess-esque details. Catrice is a German brand that encases their Defining Blush in a sturdy clear plastic, reminiscent of Shu Uemura's old blush packaging. Definitely pick these up when you're traveling!

What's on your blush wishlist?
I have a never ending wishlist when it comes to makeup so I can't name only a few blushes I'd like to get my grubby little hands on. I will admit I'm a sucker for high end blushes. I like to have doubles of things in different shades so I probably will add a second Chanel blush and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush to my collection later this year. I'd also like to dip my fingers into some Burberry and Tom Ford. On the other end of the price spectrum, I'm very curious about Colourpop blushes and perhaps some Makeup Geek.

Holy grail blush?
This was a difficult question because I don't think I could live with just one blush. But... if I had to pick... I'd have to choose Nars Deep Throat. Like I said before, it's the perfect peachy pink shade and I actually stop and think "wow, what a pretty blush" when I wear it. It's also the first Nars blush I ever purchased and one of the first high-end makeup products I purchased so it holds some sentimental value.

I tag all of you to do look through your blush stash and pick out some of your favorites to share! I'm always looking for new blushes to put on my wishlist so I'd love if you told me yours in the comments.
